qVault

Your AI assistant for teaching

Give qVault your teaching material and choose what to test. It prepares questions and explanations for you to review, then shows where your class needs more support. You decide what reaches students.

Free for students and free to pilot. Students join with their university email, and the governance paperwork is already written.

Built at King's College London, with published research.

Pilot qVault with your module in 2026–27

We work with UK university teaching teams to set up free pilots around their own material. You review the questions, choose how students use qVault and decide what you want to learn from the pilot.

Who can take part

Module leads

At any UK university, wanting more formative practice for their students.

Teaching teams

In any subject, with course material they want students to practise.

Researchers

Studying how students learn, use AI or respond to feedback.

Set up for your teaching

  • Questions prepared from your material, with your review before release
  • Reports on question performance, topic gaps and cohort patterns
  • A tutor answering from the sources you choose
  • Governance documents and support for your institutional review
  • Help to design and publish a study, if that is part of your pilot

Your part

  • Choose the material and learning goals
  • Review the questions and introduce qVault to your students
  • Tell us what worked and what needs changing

How a pilot can look

Light

You tell your students about qVault. They use it for free.

Question bank

We build a bank for your module from your material, or from an existing qVault deck. You review it before it is shared.

Insight

See which questions need attention and which topics your class finds difficult, with reports for your module review.

Your own tutor

A tutor set up for your module that answers from your material and links students to the relevant slide.

Co designed

Student feedback on access and barriers, and features your module needs.

We agree the scope, work through your requirements and help you launch. Students join with their university email.

Set practice without writing every question

qVault prepares practice from material you already teach. You choose the topics, review the questions and see what needs attention as students revise.

Choose the topics. Review the questions.

Upload slides, handouts or notes and select the topics. qVault prepares questions with explanations for every option. Edit the wording, change an option or revise an explanation before sharing the deck with students.

Watch a whole term, topic by topic

Every topic in your module, week by week, coloured by how much of the class gets it right. Scroll through the term; tap any square for what it means and what to do.

From one answer to a whole programme

See which options students choose, which questions need work and where topics become difficult. Scroll to explore each level.

See which wrong answer your class falls for

See who chose each option, the students who know the topic or those who do not, and tell a misconception from a faulty question.

Every question gets a verdict and a next step

How hard it was, how well it separated your students, the thinking it asks for, how long it took, and what to do about it.

Fix the deck before anyone sits it again

What to fix first, how reliable the deck is, which questions are ready for an exam bank, and a report for your module review.

See which topics your class has not got

Topics hard for everyone, topics that split the class, and a short written diagnosis with three things to change in your teaching.

Catch it during the term

Week by week, the topics your class gets wrong while feeling sure, and how many students are falling behind.

Show what your teaching changed

Modules side by side, the topics that improved after you retaught them, and the governance your institution asks for.

See what your class knows, and what it only thinks it knows

Students have logged more than 1.6 million interactions in their own revision, and every answer carries how sure they were before feedback. qVault joins it all into one anonymised record, so you can triangulate what students answered, how sure they were and how they studied, across a term.

  • Students in qVault say how sure they are before they find out if they were right.
  • Here they are, grouped by how sure the student felt.
  • Then split into right and wrong.
  • About 1 in 6 answers given with high confidence were wrong. A mark counts them like any other mistake. qVault shows the student every one, and shows you where they cluster.

Every result, at the level you need

Choose a level and a lens to explore your teaching, from the performance of one question to patterns across a programme.

What students get right first time

Shows students' understanding before feedback, so you can see which parts of your teaching they grasped.

What students fix on a second try

Shows what improves with practice and what keeps slipping, so you know where practice alone is not enough.

Which wrong answer pulls students in

Names the misconception behind the most chosen wrong answer, so you can address it directly.

Where students slow down

Flags where students take far longer than usual, often a sign of unclear wording or a hard step in reasoning.

Where students are wrong while feeling sure

Finds the gaps students do not know they have, which a mark alone never shows.

When students revise

Shows when your students practise across the week and the term, so you can time practice before teaching moves on.

Running a study?

The same record is a research platform. We work through the design, ethics, randomisation and publication with you, end to end.

See how a study runs

Support AI study across your programme

Give students connected study tools and teaching teams a view across their modules. Follow difficult topics, review question quality and use the findings to plan what to teach next.

Governed AI study for every student

Free, with verified university accounts. Every generated question can be reviewed by a person, students' flags feed back into quality, and content is never sold or used to train models.

Evidence to inform teaching

See where students struggle, how they respond to feedback and which topics need another teaching session. Cohort views combine results and protect small groups.

Governance already written

A pilot pack covering data protection, security, retention and student rights, ready for your institution's review. Research approvals are considered separately.

One module, one term

Start with one module lead. Students join with their university email, so there is nothing to integrate.

Across the department

Agree wider use, reporting needs and support with the teaching teams involved.

Students stay free

However far it grows, students never pay.

Privacy and trust

Answers to the questions your information governance, accessibility and teaching teams will ask.

Students' data

Combined figures only. Reports are anonymised and combined: no names, email addresses, research choices or student level records.

Never sold. Data is never sold, and qVault carries no advertising.

Registered and encrypted. Registered with the ICO (ZC218575), encrypted in transit and at rest, and open to verified university accounts only.

AI

No training on your content. Neither qVault nor its AI providers train models on student or teaching content.

AI only when asked. Practice and the standard progress measures need no AI.

Never clinical advice. AI written material can contain errors. Students are reminded to check important information, and nothing in qVault is clinical advice.

Access and inclusion

Designed to meet WCAG 2.2 AA. Full keyboard use, reduced motion, dark mode, feedback never shown by colour alone, and tagged PDF reports.

Inclusive by design. Led by a Faculty Inclusive Education Lead and funded in part by King's Race Equity and Inclusive Education Fund. Students choose how they study, free and at their own pace.

Governance

Teaching and research kept apart. Using qVault in teaching does not make anyone part of a study. Running a study is a separate agreement, with the approvals your institution requires.
